The Bull Games

Today is Turisi, the holiday of the bull, Jar-tur.  In honor of this we were suppose to play rowdy outdoor games and make bull masks.  However, I don't get home from work till after dark this time of the year (not to mention I am incredibly sick still) so we did not get to play outside or do the masks.  We played a little with my son's new indoor helicopter, which is always a blast.  Our dog loves to bark and bite at it while we are flying it, lol.  I can't tolarate sitting up any longer cuz my head feels like it is about to explose, so I am going to get heavily medicated and hit the hay.  Sorry this is so short today, maybe I will feel better tomorow.

Round Tuit Spell

For today's spell, I had to carve symbols on a round wooded disk to represent goals that I need to accomplish.  The symbols were to be placed at the North, South, East and West locations around the disk and then colored in with Dragon's Blood.  The symbols I chose are:
  • North - a paint brush to represent remodeling our house
  • South - a $ to represent selling our house
  • West - a book to represent finding a new school for my son
  • East - a house to represent finding an apartment for us to live in Houston
I am going to place the disk on my desk (I can't really hang it like it said) to serve as a daily reminder to do the necessary things needed to accomplish these goals.  Hopefully this will keep me on track, as I really need to get these things done asap!

As you can see (well maybe......sorry, couldn't really get a very good pic of it) my symbols didn't turn out that good, but I did my best.

Courage, My First Oil

Today was the first new moon of the year and quite fitting I made my first oil.  It doesn't smell all that great, but I can use this oil to anoint myself when I need courage to try something new or follow through with something.  This could not come at a better time, as I just accepted an offer with my company to transfer to another state.  This will be a big move for me, but it is really the best thing for me and my family.  As I gear up to sell our house, I can see myself using my new oil quite often :)

Blessed Be!

Bardic Spell

Wow, did you know that in Wales, Jan. 3 is one of the 12 days of Christmas?  I sure didn't.  I did not get to partake in the traditional burning of the Yule log this year  :(  Unfortunatly I do not have a wood burning fire place, nor do I have a fire pit........ yet.  I hope to have one next year though and really look forward to celebrating Yule in full swing!  For more information on Yule, check out About.com, it has a lot of really useful links and information on the traditional Yule celebration, how to set up a Yule altar and so on.

Anyway, my spell for today was really a song or poem meant to brighten dark nights.  I don't think anyone in my house would appreciate me singing this, so I just read it aloud while sitting in front of my altar.  I lit the candles and just enjoyed the quite time for a moment.  After a stressful day at work, this was just what I needed!!!

Happy Yule Everyone!!

Nordic Blessings

Today I inscribed the rune Thurisaz onto a stone with green paint (it said use a marker or ink, but I did not have either of those) and placed it on my altar.  The best meaning I could find for this rune, as it is used in this situation, can be found here.   I believe it reflects the discipline needed to find my own path and follow it.  I also feel it will act as protection for me along the way.  I asked Freya for her blessing as well by saying:

Oh fair and magical Freya,
I ask that you place your blessings
upon me and offer me your love
and guidance as I follow my
chosen path throughout
the new year.

Below is a shot of my rune.

Call on the Fates

Today's spell is very simple, thank goodness because I have been sick and still don't feel very well.  I just had to say a few words to call on the fates (controllers of destiny) to work with me as I begin my journey of using energies to help me achieve my goals.  I commit to trust the fates to guide my energies and accept the outcomes, whatever they may be.
